Crushed Shell Cuff
My first time stepping into Palmetto Bluff in December 2022, I was immediately swept away by the sereneness of it all. It's such a peaceful, easy place where the only real activity is to relax (I mean, among other things, but that's definitely the best use of your time). I was there visiting in preparation for my artist in residency the following July so it was a business trip - meant solely for getting to know the place and gathering inspiration. As I wandered around the property with my husband and then 18 month old, the only sounds I could hear were the breeze in the trees and the crunching shells beneath our feet. We were outside Cole's, and the entire courtyard + the restaurant itself was covered in crushed shells! I knew there was something special about this place, and that sound of shells would always bring me back to the easiness of the trip. Hence, the Crushed Shell Cuff. I took one of my favorite original MFM designs, our wide birch cuff, and I affixed shells I collected in that very courtyard atop it, a bit strategically, and a bit haphazardly. The texture is unmatched, and it's one of my favorite pieces I've done. I can't wait to see who ends up with it and how they wear it!
