Article: Create Your Own Sentiment

Create Your Own Sentiment Mary Frances Maker

Create Your Own Sentiment

Here at Mary Frances Maker, we’re all about the sentiment. If you’ve been around with us for a while, this is not news to you. However, if you’re new to our brand, we want you to know that the story behind the pieces we create is really the main driving force behind our “why”.

From the very beginning I’ve been enthralled with this concept of taking out-dated, yet meaningful, jewelry and bringing new life to it so that future generations can wear the pieces they cherish in refreshed designs. Most of the jewelry I repurpose typically carries this warm lovely sentiment; it was a beloved grandmothers, mothers, etc. Although, as I was driving down the road the other day I started thinking about some of my current and past clients' stories and realized not every piece of jewelry I repurpose has a positive sentimental value. In fact, I’ve had many projects where clients wanted to change their pieces to part ways with a piece of jewelry’s negative connotation – maybe it was gifted by an ex-husband, or you inherited it from a parent you did not have a great relationship with. All this to say, sentiments don’t have to be inherited, they can be created.

If you have a piece that means alot to you but is outdated, we’d love to celebrate that story. If you have a piece that holds the weight of a negative story that you are tired of carrying, we’d be honored to watch you rewrite the sentiment attached to that piece. Jewelry is meant to be an expression of self, empowering you to look and feel your best. That is why we care so much about our custom designs, because they are an embodiment of the story YOU are writing or rewriting for your own life.

All my love,

Mary Frances
